✓ Story in brief
This story is an excerpt from Malgudi Days. It tells about a child named Swami who dislikes going to school. Swami's father asked him about why didn't he go to school and he replied that a teacher in his school named Samuel is very cruel and beats students. Hearing it, Swami's father wrote a complaint against Samuel to Headmaster and said Swami to deliver this letter to the headmaster. While Swami was going to school, on the way, he was imagining of the accuracy of descriptions about Samuel that he told to his father and he started considering himself as the worst boy in the world. At school, Samuel behaved with him kindly and Swami was feeling sad for what his father had done in the letter about Samuel. At the end, when last bell was rung at school, Swami rushed towards the Headmaster's room but it was locked as Headmaster had gone on a week's leave. After this Swami run away from there with an afraid that his lie would be discovered.
